Howard Trott, Managing Director

Howard Trott is an executive with more than 20 years of experience of developing and operating a wide range of real estate investments and ventures.

In all stages of his projects, developments and investments, Howard maintains a focus on environmental stewardship and advancing green energy technologies. With his emphasis on designing with sustainability and conservation in mind, Howard is quickly developing into an environmental leader in the region.

Currently, Howard is managing director of the Teanaway Solar Reserve and a principle investor in the solar project. This green-energy solar project is designed to generate about 75 megawatts of renewable energy -- enough to power approximately 45,000 households -- making it the largest photovoltaic (PV) solar project in the world. Economic projections indicate the solar reserve will create hundreds of manufacturing, installation and maintenance jobs in the county – creating economic growth for the region while advancing green energy and offsetting carbon emissions.

In addition to this new solar reserve project, Howard has a history of leading the way in developing environmentally progressive ventures. Recently he led a project team in successfully converting James Island from an unusable, contaminated island in the gulf of British Columbia into a model of environmental sustainability. Once an ammunition manufacturing facility, James Island was completely polluted with lead and nitroglycerin. Howard took the island from a state of toxic contamination to one of the most clean, green, environmentally conscious self-contained islands in the world. James Island now boasts green modular homes, electric cars and organic gardens.

Another recent project illustrating Howard’s green leadership in the region is a new sustainable housing development in Schweitzer, Idaho. Mountainside at Schweitzer just recently broke ground and highlights include sustainable building techniques, reclaimed building materials and geothermal heating. By investing in and developing green and sustainable housing options which fully utilize alternative energy practices, Howard continues to lead the way in environmentally conscious development.

Howard lives in Kirkland, Washington and serves as an advisor to the Nature Conservancy of Canada. On his free time he enjoys building homes for recreation – with the help of his wife and three children, Howard has constructed four homes from the ground up since 1995.
